I was recently asked by my senior team "as a result of the government changes how has your job changed?" my answer "not at all " (HS in a bakery) In fact i have had extra work in having to print off and read a lot of shorter revised guidance what would you have said to your senior tteam/board if you were asked this question?

What do you mean by government changes? Do you mean new/revised regulations from HSE? In the past 10 years I've had to learn about and focus more on the hazards of noise, HAVs, asbestos, work at height and more. I'm self-employed now but thinking back, my risk assessments of 10 years ago (in the automotive industry) were very inadequate.

OK what about a positive spin on things as a general comment which may/not be legislation driven- eg - I am spending less time investigating accidents (because there are fewer) and more time auditing the systems/people/practices etc? Which shows that what we are doing led by me is working? Cynical Stu might think there is an ulterior motive to the wider question - if things have not changed improved what value have you added; and therefore if you are not adding value.............. But I am not being cynical today. Stu
