I have an asbestos report Type 2 dated March 2008 issued prior to shop fitting works. There is also a Reinspection report dated 9th February, I had an issue with this as it confused two premises in the address, (typical problem associated with using templates?)

This has now been corrected but the questions are:

1. Is a Type 2 survey dated March 2008 sufficient for shoplifting works in February 2015?
2. Does a Reinspection report have any credibility?

There is presumed asbestos in four different areas of the premises, two indicated as medium risk and two Low risk .

I have suggested there should be a Refurb/Demolition survey in accordance with current Regs.

If you intend to carry out any work which may disturb the fabric of the building then I suggest the Type II survey is inadequate, especially as it is dated 2008. You don't say what year the re-inspection report was carried out, however the above still applies.

I agree you need to carry out a R&D survey for refurbishment work in order to comply with CAR 2012.

Many thanks Ray.

I wonder why not many responses to my question?

Good point David, and I thought I was right but needed some support.

Many thanks.

Additionally when U get your new asbestos report/survey there should be an asbestos risk rating area within it - please note that in my experience even these new statements /documents can be very poor and state such things as the asbestos is safe when a suitable and sufficient risk assessment is what is really needed so if in doubt get in a H&S expert
