Good Morning,

I have been trying to locate a suitable Metal Detectable Safety Knife however when trailing a variety of them they cause pain in employees hands due to the frequent use.

They currently use a fixed Stanley blade which they find easy to use as they may have to open 40 to 50 bags an hour which when sliding the blade out continuously they begin to get pain in the hand and thumb.

I was wondering if anybody else has found a suitable alternative retractable safety knife that there staff like using.

The only stipulations which we have are;
1) It has to metal detectable
2) It has to have an option to replace the blade
3) Must not have an abundance of moving parts
4) Must be easy to clean.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards
Lewis

Lewis, I have no idea of your process or plant but with that kind of volume of materials is it feasible to introduce bulk storage and automated feed?

Also in the dim & deep recesses of my memory I seem to recall and automated bag opener being used at some sites I visited. Sadly no other detail. A quick internet search indicted that there are plenty out there.
