I am currently working in the Middle East, I previously worked for a large company in the UK which had their own Medical Centre on site. Their classification for Medical Treatment Cases (MTC) contained: "Use of prescription medications, except a single dose administered on the first visit for minor injury or discomfort". Likewise, the classification for First Aid Cases (FAC) contained: "Use of non-prescription medications and administration of a single dose of prescription medication on the first visit for a minor injury or discomfort". I know the company I worked for would have been fully aware of their legal obligations and would have fully complied with the law. I cannot find any supporting information to back this up, as my current company is working under OSHA regulations, and class painkillers as MTC. I know they would have worked under RIDDOR, but cannot find any information to back this up. If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

My definition that seems to have been ok sor far...If you pop me a pm with your email you can have the full slide.... MTC - Includes other than first aid administered by a Doctor or nurse on the orders of a doctor. Which is the first place to start... First Aid even if given by a Doctor, Nurse or other Healthcare Professional is not counted as Medical Treatment. I have some examples of treatment types in the slide.. OSHA is a bit of a red herring here as it just says you have to supply appropriate facilities and training....it gets a little more specific depending on your risks but then in most cases defaults to you invloiving a Health Care provider in the decision...

If your organisation is using OSHA Recordable Case criteria for Corporate Reporing Requirements ( as many multinationals and OIL & Gas companies do) , then there is a very explicit list of what constitutues First-Aid, irrespective of the status of the person or facility administtering it. Any treatment beyond this list is medical treatment. https://www.osha.gov/pls...=STANDARDS&p_id=9638
