Morning all

Just trying to put in a new ladder/step ladder pre-use check sheet.

Does anyone have any that I can have a look at?

Thanks

I (mostly) take a don't re-invent the wheel approach here and use the lists from INDG455 in a straight cut-paste.

I say mostly, because actually we have a shorter list fixed on all our stepladders:

Only suitable for short duration tasks.
Stepladders should only be used in situations where they can be safely used, - level, stable and well lit areas.
Check the ladder before you use it, - stiles, feet, steps / treads, locking mechanism and stepladder platform.
Ensure any locking device is engaged.
Position the ladder so that you do not need to overreach.
Position the ladder so that you are facing the work activity.
Only carry light materials.
Maintain three points of contact, i.e. two feet and legs / body supported by the top of the stepladder.

I have a spread sheet which has the following;

1. Ladder i.d
2. Type of ladder (and listed all types we use (wooden/ metal/ step))
3. results of inspection (and listed items to look for like rungs in place, side rails in place, not warped, painted, cut, its clean, rope in place to tie, at the right angle, and right for the job)
4. Actions to be taken - remove form service/ replace

Basic, but does the job for now, until we review it
