In post #7 I metioned that I sought advice via HSE on-line. The reply was not helpful.

Over-seven-day incapacitation of a worker Accidents must be reported where they result in an employee or self-employed person being away from work, or unable to perform their normal work duties, for more than seven consecutive days as the result of their injury. Seems like an automated response ( or sent out by the cleaner).

They feel their web site explains all. Odd really when you consider how may questions on this topic are posted on this site. This thread alone getting over 1000 hits and all.

Chris,

My manager colleague decided to call our local friendly HSE inspector (who nabbed us with an improvement notice last year to install an interlock on an old mill....)

Anyway he recommended that we report the accident (truck driver twisted foot getting of out cab), so we have.
