There is nothing set in stone regarding frequency of racking inspections -other than the recommended annual inspection that you already have in place.

The way I advise on this is down to risk assessment. If you imagine racking in a warehouse without forklifts or automated so no risk of collisions then the need for weekly/monthly checks is probably not required. Alternatively if you are in a busy warehouse with lots of forklifts etc then I'd recommend a minimum of a monthly visual check.

Companies tend to carry out daily forklift checks but totally ignore racking checks. If a driver collides with a racking upright can you be sure it will be reported? A scratch/bump on the daily forklift check might be noted and repaired but if a rackng upright is weakend and goes unchecked then the potential for a racking collapse is significantly increased - the cost of which can be severe.
