Why do the BBC, and others allow their presenters to wear life jackets without crotch straps? They are useless without.
Countryfile are repeat offenders to name one, but there are many.

Phil stop watching television....I have banned myself from watching several programs due to turning into original angry scotsman for the same reason...Especially US documentaries!!

The safety guys at BBC don't have a great safety record...ask Richard Hammond.

I have only been on 2 BBC expeditions (medic cover) one hot and one cold and had to take the safety person to aside more than once..but that said we could come up with a thousand examples in our daily life, it is what we do with that information at the time that counts..

Enjoy :)

Everything on the telly is for show irrespective; and even in the firing line in Iraq etc. most TV people will do anything to get in the limelight and stand up and remove protective gear whilst bullets are flying so as Steve has said; stop watching - I gave up ages ago

In most UK cases [I have worked on 4 BBC shows] I believe that there is good background work going on that people do not see in the end result and what can look very unsafe to the viewer is not really the case

However that said I believe that this good work is only really undertaken when filmed in countries with high standards and of a certain culture and that is one reason that programs are being brought in more and more from other areas that do not care so things are going to get worse from the H&S angle and good examples are where animals and presenters together are being filmed where the standards of the animals treatment & the risks presenters go to are well below BBC standards but unfortunately that is what audiences appear to want

Show on tv last night about restoring a Daimler, driver all bucked up, but co presenting passenger thinks seat belt works ok if tucked under his arm not across his chest. Idiot in the first instance but also to the editor who didn't spot this on the cutting room floor.

Now there is evidence available to the 'employer' should he face discipline under S8? How real is reality TV?
Discuss....

Bear Grylls laughs in the face of safety. Give him a risk assessment and he`ll just use it to help start a fire.

Classic, response. Image what chuck norris would do with a violence in the workplace procedure
