All,
I have been asked to prepare a 10 minutes power point presentation on 'Risk Management in Mental Health Services'.
Can you help me as to which points to cover?
They have also asked me to prepare for a 30 minutes test at the end of the interview, which I have no idea what to expect?
Any help would be appreciated.

Worked in this setting myself, key safety aspects but by no means an exhaustive list I encountered were:
Lone working - possible need for ratio working or alarm systems.
Aggressive and challenging behaviour - given the nature of the sector staff need to attend relevant training and assessments should take account of specific individual risks
Staff welfare - by this I mean staff stress Inc. Wellbeing. This is a big thing now and is likely to be a good talking point. Those who help those with mental health issues are prone to suffering themselves given their exposure.
I would also look at more generic safety principles and guidance for, RIDDOR in health and social care is a good document as are the CQC standards (these have just changed) - which you will have to abide by alongside traditional H&S regs. With regards your test, it could be anything from a simple numeracy test to a contextualised question on safety if mental health care, possibly around RIDDOR as I mentioned - could be anything though

Hi Kojo, Jay's points are good, but I would add that 'risk management' to me has to include some reflection on governance, especially in a healthcare setting. So having discussed the likely risks, try and include some indication of who you will be working with to mitigate the risks. This will include the clinical quality or equivalent team for example. You should also try and indicate how you will give assurance on the risks (key factor in governance) and to whom. I know you only have ten minutes, so just a quick sketch, but it could help to show you have thought about these things.
