I have entered the transitional period from 6th April to 6th October as a CDMC on various projects. However, on one particular project which is in transition as it started in January 2015 I have taken over from a previous CDMC who I presume made the initial notification of project F10 to HSE and I want to update it but don't have the reference number or copy of this F10. When I try to start a new one it presents me with the new form with no CDMC box and the addition of Principal Designer so I am at a loss in how to proceed as the project will not have a PD as it finishes prior to October 2015. Any help would be appreciated.

Dear 'Taggart', on the assumption that your client wishes you to continue in the CDMC capacity through transitional arrangements (as they can appoint the PD at any time prior to 6th Oct). Happy to assist here. This has occurred with us before, but usually when the return receipt code has been mislaid. Try emailing the HSE - forms.unit@hse.gsi.gov.uk You will need to provide the full site address, outline detail of the project and the named individual /organisation previously appointed CDMC. They should be able to trace it and return code for you to update. The updated HSE F10 form has another discussion stream on this forum. It seems the HSE hasn't seen the requirement for existing CDMC and project appointments to require an update of F10's. When updating an existing F10 (pre April '15) the CDMC box should still be there but instead its replaced with only the PD box. Where this has happened in the recent weeks myself and my colleagues, where acting still as CDMC through transitional arrangements, update the F10 on behalf of client but stipulating that our appointment is still that of CDMC. Its worth noting that some acting CDMC's may not be covered to act in the PD role - of which im guessing their respective insurers will be checking their cover!.. hope this assists.

Moss, thank you really appreciate your response. On the subject of the new F10 which doesn't allow updates in pre 6th April format I have a number of projects which are in the transitional category the I will shortly need to update. I understand that you update on behalf of the client as there is no CDMC box, but what do you enter for PD which is a mandatory field and of course there is no PD? Thanks

Taggart You could get round this problem by doing the F10 in word format, then emailing to formsadmin.locationofoffice@hse.gsi.gov.uk e.g. formsadmin.aberdeen@hse.gsi.gov.uk The online system has lots of downsides, especially for major projects with various advance works.

You don't even need to do that. There's no requirement in the regs to use an F10, only to notify what is set out in schedule 1, so notify them by writing that content in a letter.
