Can anyone help me understand the requirements for a TWC or a TWS. My company is a small PC and deal with a range of TW's e.g. Scaffolding, underpinning, small excavations, propping etc. The question is do I need a TWC or would a TWS be sufficient? We have lots of sites and the TWs are sporadic enough to not justify the employment of a full time TWC but frequent enough to give me cause for concern. I contemplated training one of our site managers as a TWC but the guidance recommends that ideally a TWC should have a degree, preferably in Engineering, which would rule him out. If I train up the site manager as a TWS is this going to be enough? If not does anyone know where I could find a TWC on an ad hoc basis? Thanks in Advance

Wombleflow, it would be worth you referring to BS 5975 it's a useful document and has a section on the appointment of temporary works co-ordinator and supervisor. I hope this will help.
