We are currently reviewing our evacuation plan and plan to move to horizontal evacuation. this is a big change particularly at night and I was wondering if anyone had a really good evac plan for a care home or hospice that they would be willing to share to give us a starting point?

Sarah - Have you reviewed your fire risk assessment in relation to this change? IMHO, if you are moving from phased or simultaneous evacuation to PHE this would certainly trigger a review which would perhaps focus on fire compartmentation between zones, the suitability of the fire detection system and means of escape from every zone.
I hope you don't mind me mentioning this, but as you say this is a big change which has the potential to present some significant risk. Its essential the premises in question has the architectural features, fire safety infrastructure and management (including staffing numbers) to allow horizontal evacuation and a reviewed FRA will allow you to answer those issues.
Good luck
