I'm going through our CHAS renewal process and we are being asked for examples of accident reports and investigations. What are the legal implications of sending such reports where data protection is concerned?

Just completed ours. I have "tippexed" out sensitive details eg name / address / dob of injured person, then simply copied it. It is acceptable to do this.

My understanding is that you should provide the details of the accident and the subsequent investigation with all personal data blanked out. Our system allows for confidential reports to be printed where name, address, date of birth and job title of the individual injured in the accident are simply marked CONFIDENTIAL. When providing details of the persons injured in the accident we refer to them as IP (Injured Party).
