Can any of you recommend good companies to conduct fire risk assessments of office type premises? They would need to be national as we have 27 locations nationwide.
Thanks

I'd not recommend Chubb if they paid me...
Another option for medium term, is to stick a few people on a sufficient course to complete them in house, what we're about to do (and i'm one of the ones due on it).
Two of us covering 20 odd sites incorporated into our quarterly visits, worked out it'll cost us half of what getting external in would.

Hilarious :) Is it April fools day already????
When the Chubb guy who completes the FRA signs the report 'Area Sales Reps' and recommends umpteen superfluous extinguishers - then you start smelling a rat
I have seen this so many times, so would always avoid any company who completes FRAs and sells extinguishers

with all due respect more info is needed for a full answer to be given as if its an 'average' basic office situation the fire RA should be an easy exercise to do using a competent H&S bod to facilitate the assessor
Additionally RA's should be owned by the employer but the habit of getting 'others' to do them [and putting them in a locked draw] thus having no real ownership is now out of hand

Ok some mixed responses on CHUBB then :)
I would be happy to do them myself but due to the level of work we have in front of us the Board require costings as they don't want me travelling around the country for the next month doing these.
Once they are done I will probably take over doing any others, plus reviews etc. myself.

Good luck completing a suitable and sufficent RA after doing one course with no experience

Many years ago I did a day training to be a fire extinguisher salesman, we trained together with the people who were to be employed as fire extinguisher service engineers, employed by the same company.
The sales techniques we were taught were not too bad but the way the engineers were told to damage extinguishers in order to sell new ones was disgraceful.
Needless to say my employment with then lasted no linger than that one day, and I didn't get paid.
That company went bust some years later.

I would not use Chubb for office FRA's. They are overpriced and underwhelming. I have used this company for offices and social housing schemes e.g sheltered schemes and high rise flats. http://firesafetysolutions.com/ Always found them very good.
Hope this helps

Im loving all the comments about a certain company :) LOL
I do my own after taking the Nebosh fire safety and risk assessment course with Astutis.
Consider advertising a temporary role to cover this off rather than using a consultant as it may be cheaper

Worthwhile making enquiry of your Insurers. Many will offer advice and support, free resources, training at reduced cost, etc.

C.S. Todd are really good, but they're probably a bit more expensive than other providers.

I'm about to start a new role as fire risk assessor for a new company, in my old post we have been using the PAS79 template but the new post have had chubb carrying out the risk assessments. If anyone has a decent template I could use it would be much appreciated I was going to create something using PAS 79 and the guidance but don't want to reinvent the wheel! I will be covering residential homes, hostels, low rise flats, Schools office buildings.
much appreciated
