Looking at this for the first time, I'm bewildered by the range of potentially applicable EN standards. Anyone out there know of an authoritative source for selection? Is filter strength commonly related to Arc current? HSE guidance is singularly unhelpful, e.g. welding series guidance states: "use suitable eye protection."

The requirements are in BS EN 169: 2002. There is a table that gives the recommended shade number as a function of current. What current are you using?
