Hi folks,
I am new to this forum and was just looking for some ideas/past experience from some of the members on here. I currently work for a company who manufacture and erect precast concrete panels so my job is split evenly between construction sites and the manufacturing sites. I am looking to run a safety campaign which will increase awareness in Health and Safety and will also become our flagship campaign going forward. The main areas I hope to focus on are the areas around Lost Time Accidents/PPE adherence/Housekeeping/Work at Height etc. Has anyone any ideas on what sort of initiatives I could introduce to motivate people or events I could run as part of the campaign.
I have looked at getting a motivational speaker in to talk to our guys. A guy who has been involved in an accident at work just to give our workforce a real life case study. This sort of thing along with the likes of up skilling the workforce at all levels and toolbox talks, increased leadership from top level management etc are the types of things I am looking at.
I appreciate any ideas or experience you guys have on here.
Thank you in advance.

Hello We have had the pleasure of Ken Woodward and Jason Anker, who are both fantastic motivational speakers (of course not at the same time). They left the workforce talking for weeks and even now 2 years on, we still talk about the experiences they shared. Good luck Katie

Katie,
Many thanks for your reply. I have been looking at a guy called James Gorry from Ireland. Again comes with great references.
Do you have any other ideas on what sort of things I could run in the manufacturing facilities and sites other than a motivational speaker? Like I say I have looked at upskilling, increased visibility from top management and the likes of more frequent toolbox talks from our supervisors. Are there any other success stories anyone has for something out of the ordinary?
Regards, rsherl01

Our latest safety initiative is our Tool Box Talk programme which plays a major part in our continuing effort to create an increased awareness of hazards present in the industry and precautions which must be taken to eliminate or control them; and in doing so will help to reduce unwanted incidents. The programme has been written as a series of discussion topics on Safety, Health, and Environmental issues. The plan lists a number of talks to be carried out over the course of the year, together with a list of employee names (to include senior management). These are downloaded from our SharePoint facility and the plan updated online. We find it an excellent tool to engage with the workforce, whilst adding an element of humour here and there to keep things interesting.
