Good morning, all.

Have done a search on here, and have scanned through a few pages, but can't find any relevant threads on this. If there's one then do direct me!

As we know, the new CLP 2015 regs have now replaced CHIP (http://www.hse.gov.uk/chemical-classification/legal/clp-regulation.htm). However, I'm struggling with a couple of things, which I'd be grateful for answers/links to.

1. Should I now expect (as of 1st June) all chemicals coming from our EU suppliers to bear the new harmonised logos (and this includes SDSs)?
2. What happens with chemicals we (we're a 'consumer') already have on the shelf? I assume there's no problem with these having the old CHIP pictograms?

The HSE doesn't provide answers to either of these questions, so far as I can tell.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

From the HSE website:http://www.hse.gov.uk/chemical-classification/legal/transition-from-chip-to-clp.htm

There are certain limited circumstances where these transitional arrangements for substances and preparations/mixtures can be extended: the re-labelling and re-packaging of substances and mixtures which are already labelled and packaged and in the supply chain (‘on the shelves’) on the above compliance dates may be postponed until 1 December 2012 and 1 June 2017 respectively.

Note: there are no exemptions for classification responsibilities. Until 2015 there is simply a choice of whether to use the older or newer system in classifying mixtures.

Below from the HSE web page downloadable booklet, I took it to mean that anything new etc needs to have the new label and that any labels on things like storage facilities at workplaces and vehicles carrying such products should be changed by now. However I have seen a number of vehicles with the old pictograms on the back end of the tankers and vans as I'm driving down the motorway ?

CLP is being introduced gradually over a number of years to allow suppliers time to change their products over to the new system. Some products have already been moved over to the new system, and the rest will need to be changed over by 1 June 2015, although some stocks of products already in the supply chain may be onward supplied without needing to be relabelled for a further 2 years after the deadline.
