Has anyone stopped first aid payments when staff are on maternity leave, I would be interested to know what others views are on this?

We never paid them at all anyway.
As it is for a service above and beyond the "normal" job you probably could stop the payments but I'd wait to see what other responses are: I tend to get HR questions wrong!

It all depends upon how your company reward scheme is set up staring on the assumption that paid recognition for First Aid skills exist.

Stopping payment for a First Aider on maternity leave personally strikes me as a discriminatory activity with the miniscule financial saving not balancing with the loss of good will amongst the workforce and potential discrimination tribunal costs.

The only time I have applied stoppage in a funded scheme was when the certification expired during the eligible year and was chosen not to be renewed - here the ex First Aider was paid pro-rata for completed months whilst certified.
