The government has to be measure how desibel train's nose. This is very dangerous.

The underground is very noisy that's for sure, doing something effective about it is another matter. In tunnel sections the noise resonates as there is nowhere for it to escape. For most people travelling to and from work their exposure to noise will be limited, however train drivers are spending 6-7 hours per day.

There have been tests done to record noise levels many years ago. Some lines were identified as requiring hearing protection for staff. However having read the report I was concerned how the sampling was conducted. To say there is no evidence of noise induced hearing loss for staff is I believe overly simplistic, possibly even economical with the truth. The difficulty being that as people get older their hearing naturally deteriorates, so proving noise induced hearing damage is the difficult bit.
