Just listening to radio re: plants and their potential. Aconite / aconitum was the prompt to this. Gardener specialising in poisonous plants mentioned a few of the more common ones which are sold in garden centres, nurseries etc and which (he said) rarely mention any toxicity AT ALL. Just heard a florist saying she had no idea about aconite danger and regularly uses it in bouquets. Cherry laurel cuttings can kill you on the way to the dump if in your car - cyanide given off. Wow. Who knew? I was surprised to hear of this lack of information at the point of sale, in the light of COSHH (for their own staff) and s6 and CPA duties.

Anyone that has smelled Laurel cuttings, I imagine. They reek of it.

I spotted this year’s ago. I drew up a list of poisonous plants and provide guidance for our staff who were working out in the field, in garden centres and farms etc. They’re supposed to include this in their risk assessments
