PPG2 are the Environment Agency guidelines for Oil Storage and extend as far as Scotland, these might give you some idea. For sure you need to mark it up as diesel and what sort (ie Red Diesel) but first you need to check that you are compliant in all other ways and these guidelines will tell you that.

When reading remember they are guidance. The actual legislation is for England.
Also note your tanks may be double skinned, but that does not make them self bunded. You may find all your connections and shut off valves are external to the outer skin.
You may also want to read the publication "Get to know your oil tank" which gives a good introduction to oil storage
tanks ( Google it).
OFTEC also have info.
Signs I would be tempted with:- no smoking and flammable signage.

I've sent you a PM with some info/suggestions but I'd also ensure you have a spill response system in place to deal with any leakages?

Just re-read your original post and realised you specifically asked about signage. I've never dealt with this but from the top of my head I'd consider the following:
Marking the tank with details of contents and maximum permitted quantities
Tank Isolation/Lock Off Points
If the tank can be entered, mark as confined space (most will be)
Emergency Protocols including spillages and fire
Locations of emergency equipment located nearby (spill kits, fire fighting equipment) etc
No smoking
No Naked Flames or Hot Work without permit to work
