Do you have to be licensed to remove Asbestos if it is a gasket on mahinery, and the machinery is being removed in its entirety? Thanks in advance.

As far as I am aware you do not need to be licensed for what you describe. To be exempt from needing a licence the work must be sporadic, low intensity and carried out in such a way that the exposure of workers to asbestos will not exceed the legal control limit. The waste, however, will be deemed hazardous waste and must be disposed accordingly.

if the machine is being removed in its entirety and the gaskets can be left in situe then let the removal co take the load thereafter noting that your co needs to ensure that its contract for the removal activity manages its liability for any hazardous waste if your guys are stripping down the gaskets etc. before the removal activity I advise that u get a good understanding of the asbestos regs beforehand as its the only way to learn ---- this sounds like a poor answer to your Q? but I assure U that the answer supplied is given with the best intentions
