RIDDOR question - contractor working on site has an accident

Hello hope someone can answer this for me, I've looked a RIDDOR but still not sure.
While an employee of one of our appointed contractors was working on one of our sites (we only manage the building for the client), he had not secured his ladder properly and fell.
Is it my responsibility to report, as we control the work premises or is it his employer's responsibility.
Thanks

No expert but I would say it's up to his employer based on this extract from HSE website: "If you are an employer: If you are an employer, you must report any work-related deaths, and certain work-related injuries, cases of disease, and near misses involving your employees wherever they are working. If you are in control of premises: you must report any work-related deaths, certain injuries to members of the public and self-employed people on your premises, and dangerous occurrences (some near miss incidents) that occur on your premises. http://www.hse.gov.uk/riddor/who-should-report.htm

Assuming the injuries caused were reportable under RIDDOR it would be the responsibility of his employer to report.
It is only up to the responsible person in charge of the building to report if the injured person was a member of the public or self employed, or indeed if it was one of the noted dangerous occurrences.
Having said that though, I don't think its normal for statements on this forum to go unchallenged so I would expect someone to disagree.

wclark1238, I know nothing about the disagreement but I have to disagree with you. I'm not sure what you disagree with, but you're wrong. And it's all well and good being vehement (is that something to do with ORR?), but a reasoned rebuttal works much more effectively IMO. Ian ;-)
