Hi all, I would be very grateful for any advice you may have ahead of an interview that I am attending next week. I have been ask to do the following: prepare and present a 10 min slide on how to engage and influence a diverse and remote workforce on Health, safety and wellbeing. Am i thinking on right track for slides with pictures for diversity of language barriers? and remote best way to engage them if they are never in the office? any help advice would be grateful so that i can prepare the slide ready for next week. thanks all

Hi Leanne, I would take "diverse" to include the following: - languages spoken; - employee culture (i.e are they all UK nationals or do a significant percentage come from a wide range of cultural backgrounds with possibly different attitudes to h&s?); - educational attainments (i.e. from basic education to graduate); - age (from young apprentices to long term skilled employees approaching retirement). As regards "remote" you're probably right - but a little bit of Google research on the company probably wouldn't go amiss!

10 minutes is not very long. At least in part, it would seem that this is to test your presentation skills. My advice would be to do a very few slides and be able to talk about them well - practice! For content then concentrate on a few simple messages along the lines others have mentioned.

Remember a presentation doesnt have to be a powerpoint - think about a different way to do this to stand out from the crowd. In 10 minutes 5 slides is quite a lot. As an interviewer I would be looking for something different, they will be seeing at least 3 other people probably. Remember to really check your slides, if I see a typo I start to bristle as an employer as I will be expecting great attention to detail in the role. Also Diverse could be about the role not just culture Hope these help and good luck, keep us posted

Diverse and remote crowd your target audience. Get their attention first, at inductions I introduce myself very briefly then the await the death by power-point safety induction. I then ask them where they are from, how long they ve lived in country, previous roles, jobs anything dangerous in Lithuanian warehouses? Bar work in Poland what was the worst you saw? You were a HGV driver in Romania, was it safe? What is different here, why do you think that is? Your multi national audience bond, feel at ease ask questions and are engaged . We then do the presentation concluding with safety fails from overcrowded trains in india, family moped rides through China whatever. You could perhaps reach out using a face-book group for example, social media encouraging input and participation. Lots of visuals , short powerful sentences with clear messages. Steve ( good luck )
