Hi everbody,
I need to establish how many first aiders we need and first aid kits.
I've never completed a First Aid Risk Assessment and wondered if anybody had a good example to start me off.
Many thanks,
Gaz.

Hi Gaz - just to add to the above post, the final decisions (product) of a FA RA will not look anything like other RAs you may see (ie doesn't fit the 'form' many use).
I suggest you use the guidance to draft a single page summarising your own organisational situation and therefore your proposed solution. Often organisations just skip to "this is how we do first aid here" guidance etc. and the risk assessment part is 'invisible'. Hope that helps.

The reason it doesn't fit a risk assessment form is it's not a risk assessment - it's a needs assessment!
I agree with the above that the thing to do is to work through the HSE guidance and write your workings down. I did this by turning each point in the guidance into an entry in a table (so I had a table saying how many people in how many buildings working what hours doing work with what risks etc).

Don't forget to check that all potential injury risks can be covered by FAW trained people, otherwise more specialist training will be needed. And 'dial 999' is not a valid precautionary measure for the most part.
