Dropping Incident We had a dropping incident last week where a FLT was lifting a load when suddenly the forks dropped. No injuries or damage caused but it could have been a lot worse. Does this classify as an Dangerous Occurrence under Lifting machinery" the collapse of, the overturning of, or the failure of any load bearing part of any (G) Forklift". Note its an old FLT(1991) but received thorough examination only in August. The FLT was 2T and the item lifted was only 1.2T Any help or advice would be appreciated

Hi Definitely a reportable incident. The machine should be isolated and competent inspection of the issue sought. Obviously a conversation with whoever conducted the thorough inspection would follow after the results of the cause are found.

Absolutely agree with douglas, it does fall with the schedule to RIDDOR and is reportable; if nothing else the clue is in 'but it could have been a lot worse', John
