Hi All

I need some clarification on the subject of PL/ EL Insurance and Ra M's.
If we use a single self employed sub-contractor labour only, will they require Public liability and risk assessments and method statement or will they be covered by ours ?

Furthermore do they need Employers Liability if they are just a "One man band ?"

Thank you in advance.

Hi Paul

Personally I think PL/EL and RAMS is over the top for labour only subbie. They would in effect come under your umbrella for all safety related matters and as such work to your RAMS.

If you provide the RAMS they will in effect be treated as an employee in regards to insurance i.e. if they cause and incident and a formal claim is made, it will be your insurance that foots the bill (this is from our insurers when we had the same situation)
