Hi Guys,
The college where I work can't seem to agree on several issues surrounding the storage of gas cylinders. As I am just starting to familiarizing myself with the role and read up on what's available on the HSE website, could someone tell me please if.....
1. it is legal to store all different types of flammable gas cylinders together?
2. you have to segregate flammable compressed gas from flammable liquids?
3. What documentation if any should I have from the supplier where the cylinders are rented from?
4. there wasn't enough storage outside for all cylinders, is it ok to leave some inside a building if they are fitted with regulator caps or would it be better to just build extra storage outside?
Thanks in advance

As you are dealing with flammable substances - risk assessment required under the DSEAR.
Also review your fire risk assessment and associated emergency procedures.

Have a look at the British Compressed Gases Association and look for GN2 Guidance for the storage of gas cylinders in the workplace. Revision 5: 2012 which you can down load for free. There is also a more comprehensive Code of Practice which covers storage but you need to purchase it.
BOC also has some information which may be of use to you on their website: http://www.boconline.co.uk/en/sheq/index.html
