I don't hire site equipment but do recommend that all work at height should be done from behind a safety barrier or guard rail.

I have been asked to provide some guidance on what builders currently do but really want to provide the right information to comply with WAH Regs.

After looking at some hire companies on the web and making a few calls I find they are not too interested in hiring equipment that complies unless specifically asked for it and the guard rail systems they do provide are limited.

Does anyone know of a hire company that has a good range of such equipment and not too expensive because, as always money talks.

These companies (no affiliation whatsoever) state their products comply with the W@H Regs 2005.

Not sure about the cost, to be honest Chris but there's a couple of starters for you.

Thanks Frank, I did have a look at two others but yours are exactly what we need.

Cheers.

A robust steel frame adjustable height trestle ideal for brick/stone work. If you want to buy trestles, the best option is to buy online. There are many relevant sites through which you can buy these trestles easily at affordable price..

Some of the sites are listed below-

Safe Stand in the UK have a similar system that complies with the WAH requirements also.

I'd be very careful with website claims as the first trestle (from Langtons) only complies if it's being used against an existing wall or barrier that remains in place for the whole time the trestle is there.

If (as we have recently experienced) we place this type of item against a wall from which the blockwork is being removed (or conversely built up) then there will come a point where three of the four sides are compliant but the fourth side isn't as the blockwork has either been removed during demolition, or is waiting to be built!

One way around this is to use a harness from a suitable anchor point or build from a mobile/zip up scaffold with front cross beam. There may be other solutions too.
