Just had a bit of an odd conversation as we all do from time to time. It has left me with a question :-
When is racking just shelving or when does shelving become racking ? ie what is the difference ?
I know all equipment comes under PUWER and Racking should be regularly inspected under this legislation, but as far as I'm aware people do not get shelving externally inspected.
Is there any formal / legal definition of one or other ?
Thanks In advance for any enlightenment, I just know my conversation with my colleague is not going to be over.

I have a copy of the SEMA ACoP normally you have to buy that - can't remember how I got it back in 2012, don't know if it's the current guide.
If you google there's a guide published by Redirack which looks useful

Shelves are the things you bang your head on.
Racking is the thing fork lift drivers knock over.

Thanks John for the links and Martin1 for amusement. From Johns links there didn't seem to be an official stance but they did lead me to a number of sites that indicated a reasonable answer.
Thanks all
