Hi can anyone give me some advice about whistle blowing?
I'm in a position where staff are getting ill due to the culture of bullying and intimidation within the workplace.
Raising it to the local "Directors" has got nowhere - there is a supposedly anonymous whistle blower line but having seen what I've seen I've no faith in it at all.
We're a small cog over seas for a big player in the UK FM industry; the culture is unlike anything I've ever experienced; poisonous and seemingly supported to the top.
Any advice is greatly appreciated

The question is, who are you going to blow the whistle to? The HSE have no jurisdiction oversees. So, unless you can reach those at the very top in your organisation, assuming they take any notice, I think you can only vote with your feet.

Do you have a corporate central team that oversee the whole organisation that could be a route of where to go. I would also try the line as you could be surprised, people may not be fully aware of what is happening because it has become the norm. Alternatively I would seek out a friendly manager in another part of the organisation for advice and a steer.

You've all outlined a lot of my key problems; we're overseas consultants essentially for the PLC back in the UK because they have failed massively in sorting out a legal working visa.
The set up out here is being run by a bunch of chancers at director level; so anywhere local is out of the question. As a result there are people physically and mentally cracking up. Given the staff sickness and attrition rate; there has been a 60% turnover rate; I'd have expected some kind of interest from back home but theres been nothing.'
The contract was up and running for almost a year before I joined a few months back but theres not a single piece of paperwork in place and the ''team'' have been totally broken. Never seen anything like it.
I don't want to up and leave as theres something nasty coming down the line; you know that feeling ?, and I don't want to see one of these poor so and sos get lumbered or killed.
Really stuck as to what to do; I've not been here long enough to approach anyone I know I can trust at corporate.
Its a HUGE UK based FM and construction firm - if anyone's conscience is pricked and they work for such an organisation; which I can't name here; please let me know and if you're in the same firm I'll get back to you.
Thanks folks
