We are in the process of buying new angle grinders for the workforce, I would like to purchase the ones that cause the least chance of contracting hand arm vibration syndrome or carpal tunnel can anyone point me in the direction of the best piece of equipment, I have tried to find this out but it seems difficult unless I study all the technical data for all grinders as anyone completed a task like this can you offer advice, thank you

you need to consider more than the equipment, you need to take into account what they are being used for i.e what materials for example and how long they are going to be exposed to the equipment, whether they are inclined to use different pieces throughout the day, breaks away etc

Contact a number of suppliers, and ask them to come to do a demo on their items, that way, you can use the items, see if they are right for the job and right for the operatives, and go from there.

Good Point, it makes sense to test before you buy and to engage the workforce in the picking of new equipment as it is the personnel who will be using the kit.

Good Point, it makes sense to test before you buy and to engage the workforce in the picking of new equipment as it is the personnel who will be using the kit.
A company I previously worked for done that, is was great actually, a proper demo on the equipment, the guys got involved and were very vocal !

Most companies will give you an indication of the emmission value of the vibration for each tool, but as others have suggested there can be additional factors, for example if you choose a lower emitting tool, but it take 2x as long to do the same task either due to size shape or power then the actual exposure will be greater with the lower emission tool! o.O
