New office partition walls & smoke detectors

Hiya, I couldn't find the answer in BS 5839-1 but just wanted to confirm that installing partition walls basically restrains the 7.5m detection radius of smoke detectors.
We have a quote at hand for an outrageous amount to get this done. I don't dispute we need them, but I may need extra convincing for our mgt team to spend any money on this.

Hi
Have you tried the fire risk assessment guide for offices and shops. You may find more information on page 70.

In a word Yes if you are putting up a fire wall partition, if not then its based on the level OF COVER you require e.g. L3 ?

As SBH has indicated, you need to maintain the level of detection coverage as determined by your FRA (and not your fire alarm installers!).
You may well need additional heads in carving up an existing larger area - whether they are fire resisting or otherwise to prevent a reduction in coverage.
One option which may reduce costs in to stop the partition walls short of the ceiling, similar to what is permitted with an inner room situation. I could only imagine this would be possible for low risk premises, say offices with more than one MOE
