I know its telly-land, but Casualty had me really yelling at the TV on Saturday, when an agency nurse accidentally sustained an electric shock (during a resuscitation) and died. That is: an employee, killed at work, from work. Response? Mildly concerned, everyone back to work, including those involved, the only person showing any interest is the supervisor ('have to complete a critical incident form') and a high-up Trust honcho complaining 'this will cost the Trust a fortune'. Where were the police? The HSE? CQC? Even just the Holby Trust H&S advisor (now there's a new character opportunity!)? What happened to any manslaughter / HSW investigation? I had just spent an hour or so the previous week outlining to a manager at work the response to be expected IF there was a fatal or potentially fatal accident. Apparently not the case . . . Maybe it was just me watching . . .

It's a TV drama, written for dramatic effect. The viewing public aren't interested in the minutiae of RIDDOR reporting or any other protocol. Get over it

It's sad that you even watch it let alone worry about whats happening! Lets hope your manager didn't watch it or all you hard work might just be in vain!

He's right you know. I enjoyed the episode, didn't even think about the HSE getting involved. Having said that, I recorded it and watched it later so I guess they might have got involved in the interim ...... no just kidding, I know it's fiction!
