Just had an email (second one this week) to sign up for the IOSH 2016 Conference - it also stated 250 members had already signed up and saved £100 - I'd like to know who they are and how they can afford it.
Are you going? - and if so, and if you have a mind to, how are you paying? - because I can't afford it and my company won't pay.

I think you will end up with a very long list of 'No's'. But that is only my opinion and going on the post that was on here some weeks ago.

I am intrigued as to who the 'prawn sandwich brigade' are Ray?
As a member of Council I don't get a free ticket; I could not afford it and I couldn't take the time off the moment anyway; so no i wont be going.
There is a free 'expo' at the NEC very soon - I guess more will willing/able to go to a free event in the middle of the country rather than an expensive one in the expensive south of the country?

Its just an expensive waste of time as far as Im concerned.
Remember in the old SHP photos of the "dinners" attended by IOSH staff etc. Lets invite theiosh hong kong or iosh brunei branch for lunch (prawn sandwiches). no thanks.

Stu, it was just a light hearted dig at the 'corporate' members who I suspect get their organisations to stump up the dot and dash for the ticket.
Not having a go at anyone representing IOSH. Indeed I think if councillors give up their time they should receive a freebie as a thank you.

Wrong place for me, wrong price for me.
Did it back in the 1990's and early 2000's as an exhibitor for my then-employer. Never really did justify the expense.

As I've just paid £133 for membership fees (not paid for by the organisation I work for), there's hee-haw chance of me going. I work part-time and would incur travel expenses so not worth it for the sarnies.
Do try to get to the H&S expo thingy at the SECC in Glasgow every 2 years though as that's free and managed to get a free t-shirt plus add to my pen supply the last time lol!

No offence taken Ray I was just curious as I am quite keen on a prawn mayo sandwich - even if it is pre packed and part of a meal deal from my local supermarket.
There are some free tickets distributed to the branches (2 each I think) but I don't know how the branches then decide on who gets the tickets - I suspect that it is not decided in a fully open and democratic way - but hasten to add that I have no evidence whatsoever to support this theory that is just the cynical side of me emerging.
Even if I was offered a free entry it is the other associated costs - travel, hotel and more importantly for my employer my time out of work that would probably prohibit me going.
