Hi everyone, I'm having a few issues with the H&S Employee Reps at the minute. The monthly meetings are slowly turning into a mud slinging match and it is becoming an issue to get anything productive out of the meeting at all. So really I'm after some advice on what others do in these meetings and how I can improve them. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Do you produce a agenda that is sent out prior to the meeting and returned this will give the opportunity to get answers to the questions or issues and relay them back at the meeting. Can you have them bi monthly, this may give more importance to the issues. Set a terms of reference on what the meeting is for and have an agreement of behaviour.

I agree with Invictus! we hold a meeting every month and an agenda is always emailed out before. There is always a "any other business" part tot ha agenda which has the possibility of going off topic, however, it is in my opinion, down the meeting chairperson to keep it on topic. One thing we also have is a safety reps handbook which is issued and signed by the safety rep. In this handbook is a code of conduct section which states expected behaviours and channels of communications etc. hope this helps.

As per the others on agenda, plus I used to encourage to bring up issues with me before the meeting in case I was able to solve the issue before the meeting. This also pre warned me of any emotive topics about to come my way. Chris

Thanks for the responses. I do set a meeting agenda but have tried to get more input from the guys in the past 2 meetings which has ended up creating the problem. I will definitely make sure the meetings are more structured moving forward and keep as much control as I can. Thanks again
