Hi all, I have a client who is about to remove Asbestos tiles from a roof (the entire roof contains Asbestos tiles). The client is trained and this is non licensed work, when removing the tiles they will be placed into an lockable asbestos waste skip in preparation for compliant disposal. My question is would the client carry the Asbestos tiles down the scaffolding and place into the skip to avoid breaking - obviously this would involve manual handling, perhaps he will have to bag the tiles in case he drops them?, how will he carry the tiles maintaining 3 points of contact on access ladders safely etc. or - should he use a chute from the scaffold with a dust cover that will completely enclose the skip ensuring no fibres escape when the tiles are dropped into the chute landing in the skip? Not sure if anyone has come across this before that could give me some advice please? Thanks in advance. Lana.

Your competent, trained client should be aware that the ACM has to be double wrapped in 1000 gauge polythene sheets and labelled before it goes in the skip!

A chute is not allowed when dealing with asbestos waste as bigmac states a good option is a gin wheel. If its roof tiles you are dealing with then double bagging would be required, if its roof sheets then wrapping them in polythene as ron states is required
