Scenario: 27 properties anything from 2 to 20 staff in each 9-5MF mostly. Generally office type activities. Charity enterprise , not unlikely that associated groups will use our premises out of hours.
What is current thinking on Fire Marshal Training
Opinions seems to run from Fire Marshals should ABSOLUTELY NOT attempt to fight fires and concentrate on evacuation of premises and liaison with fire service right through to fully trained fire fighting duties with refresher courses every six months.
OK extreme examples but you can see the dilemma .. just how would we for instance do we obtain the right level for groups that use our premises occasionally and what could we seriously expect them to do.
Fully aware this is a difficult and contentious issue from some of the discussions I've had but any comments help or advice welcome ... Thanks Bob

Hi Bob,
Our fire marshals do not fight fires, they lead the evacuation and take the roll call. The exception is in our UK HQ where we have some 700 staff on 11 floors; there the fire marshals sweep the building, mainly because it's so hard for us to be sure that we know who is in or out.
We are also a charity, most of our offices have between a dozen to forty people,
John
