Apologies if this has been asked before but I have searched the forums and could not find this topic.

I have recently completed my NEBOSH General Certificate. I'm now wondering what the next step should be for me. Ultimately I would like to move to Canada, so at the moment I'm thinking the International Diploma could be best.

I've only recently started my new job, so I doubt my new employer would give me block release to complete the diploma by classroom learning. I completed my NGC via e-learning so I'm more than happy to do the same for my diploma, but I wanted to know how many hours a week I would need to put in, and for how long.

Can anyone who has done the International Diploma by E Learning advise please?

I teach on this both direct and distance learning. This is simple - look at the syllabus guide (on the NEBOSH website). Look at the required taught and self study hours - you have to do them all, by yourself. It is far from easy!

Wow. 475 hours - that is a lot of time and self-discipline.

I hate to sound uninformed but I've never really understood the difference between distance and e-learning - as a tutor yourself, would you be able to clarify this for me please?

That's a good point, I didn't think of the transferability - I'll have to have a look into it further.

I know I could do it faster, but I've heard the hardest part with the diploma is the sheer amount of information there is to remember - I don't want to make it harder for myself for the sake of rushing it, then end up getting bad scores and having to pay for resits.

I did the international diploma whilst working in Qatar. I found it best to do one unit at a time as you can fully focus on the one exam. I used a UK web based provider and it worked quite well for me and not too expensive.

Sorry for they delay, I didn't see your reply. I took 2 years from start to finish, I think its easier that way, but some do multiple exams at the same time, I am not sure I could.
