Good morning everyone, Does the forum have any expertise in working over benches, and tables where stretching and over reaching is a regular habit for employees? There seems to be a tendency for the employees to bend over the benches which can be awkward for taller people. It is only light work that is being carried out, the removal of vinyl from printed plastic signage. There is a risk of repetitive strain and upper limb disorder/lower back type injuries particularly for taller people. Is there any guidance out there from the forum please? Thanks in advance DHM

Some good guidance and a risk assessment tool, the ART tool, on the HSE website here. http://www.hse.gov.uk/msd/uld/art/index.htm Carry out the assessment and it will give you an idea of what the exact problem(s) may be and what you can do about them. We are looking at adjustable height work benches to alleviate strain for people of different heights and our manual handling programme also includes advise on good posture at a work bench.
