I am applying for a health and safety manager role within my organisation (Public Service). Can you please suggest a few technical questions (and great model answers) that you would ask, or have been asked in the past for a role?

I haven't been in an interview for four years as i have been in the same organisation and role since, so just getting myself oiled up and ready! Thanks people.

Depends on what type of interview you have. As its public sector, it will most likely be a competency based interview where they will ask you to give examples of how you have dealt with certain issues in the past, etc.

This website is good for preparation: https://www.wikijob.co.u...mpetency-based-questions

H&S wise you need to think about what the main risks are in your sector.

Good luck!

You could ask them if they intend to adopt the ISO 45001 framework to improve employee safety later this year or early next year. Reason for the question could be your internal accident / incident stats which you should have access to,
Plus the perception that a public service needs to be compliant.

Adoption will also :
improve the ability to respond to regulatory compliance issues.
reduce the overall costs of incidents.
reduce the costs of disruption to operations.
reduce the cost of insurance premiums.
reduce absenteeism and employee turnover rates

Hope that helps

thanks very much WatsonD and SBH. I am now practicing the competency based questions.
I am researching the improvements ISO 45001 will have over OHSAS 18001 which is what our management system is currently based on.
