On behalf of the railway group I am doing some research into fatigue practices and policies in other industries so we can compare and contrast this to what occurs in the rail industry.

I am particularly interested in other transport and infrastructure environments in particularly aviation, streets, bus operations and road haulage, and ports, short sea ferries and coastal shipping. in essence organisations that are maintaining infrastructure for or the operation of, scheduled services.

If anyone can point me to articles and research papers I would be obliged.

Thank you for your support.

http://www.lboro.ac.uk/d...clinical-sleep-research/

I did some work with the sleep research unit in Loughboro' many years ago on driver fatigue...whilst bringing in screening for drivers on sleep apnoea. Prof Jim Horne has published a few papers on the subject. I can't provide the links just right now as I am out of the office but I am sure if you search or request them or you may already know of it...

Hope this helps :)

For road haulage you might want to contact the Freight Transport Association and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

Thanks for the replies guys.

If you can send me the links when you get an opportunity Stevedm I would be obliged.

I had thought of the FTA and ILT so will be in touch with them but thought some members may have some contributions as well,

I would like to see published or indeed unpublished reports if firms are happy to share with me of investigations into fatigue issues which summarise the situation in a business or industry and how they are being resolved or not as the case may be.

Clearly if anonymity is required then this will be respected so if there was a report of a haulier who was missing on time deliveries because of fatigue related issues then it would a firm in that industry.

Hope this helps.
