Hi all,

Does anyone work in an establishment whereby you have in-house teams that are outsourced, such as cleaners, M&E, catering etc.

If so, does anyone have a template for periodically reviewing their practices from a H&S point of view.

Cheers

Hi Russ

I used to have cleaners, security and canteen stuff on contract at my last job. I treated them the same as any contractor that came one site and reviewed annually as part of the contractor review process; insurance, RAMS, COSHH, Training, Induction etc. so I would say is you have a process for other contractors use that.

If your struggling let me know and I will have a dig around and see what I have.

They were also included on walkarounds and the onsite manager for the company came to our H&S meetings.

Do take every opportunity to ensure the tail doesn't wag the dog. You can discharge a significant part of your duty of care by requiring the contractor to provide information (on HIS regime of inspection, sampling, monitoring and audit) to you.

It's handy to confirm these things via contract. What is required is of course proportionate to the risk.
