Hi guys, I am medical doctor, I am new to this forum, really wanted to know the prospect for doctors as health and safety officer. I would appreciate your insight.

Not meaning to sound rude but i think Doctors get more money than Health and safety officers?? Or am i missing something here

You are absolutely right, but being a medical doctor requires alot from you, and you literally have to forget about everything in your life, on top of that its a very long journey until you become a consultant and very tough, I will prefer a non-clinical job. So that is why curious about the scope of doctors in health and safety

Stick to your very worthy journey to becoming a doctor, do not touch the prospect of being a H&S practitioner with the preverbal 'dirty stick'......please

Hi, most physicians that I have worked with are Occupational Health Physicians. Less clinical. Perhaps you should contact the Faculty of Occupational Medicine for a career pathway. Hope this helps.

I think you would be better off going into occupational medicine as a specialism. It is not as pressured as many medical jobs and far better remunerated than health and safety jobs (judging from the fees we pay!)
