These units are supplied often in 2 halves. This means standing on the roof bolting together at ridge level. I am looking for a solution: how to safeguard the installer from falling. At present, safety relies on the grip quality of the sole of his trainers.

Suggestions; 1.reduce fall height using air bags 2. operatives use harness and fall arrestors (these will require an attachment point above the operator). 3. If no attachment point then guardrails around roof. There is no mention how operatives actually get on the ridge, so this will require RA. Without further info, difficult to say anything else

How about using scaffold towers with a bridging section, that could be pushed over the unit?
