Hi all,
Im looking for guidance in terms of the LOLER requirement for lifting plans.
I have a small 2t hoist that Im being told must have a lifting plan in place every time its used.
My response to the above is that the lifting supervisor plans the lift but doesnt document a lifting plan.
Can any clarify if:-
a) A gantry / hoist needs a lifting plan b) Does this plan need to be documented

Lifts need to be properly planned and supervised, but that it itself does not mean a lift plan has to be documented. However there are good reasons why a basic lift plan should be in place, which can be a generically orientated lift plan for each and every lift taking into account various loads, weather conditions, stability, etc. Suggest you have a quick read - http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/priced/l113.pdf
