Hi all,
Does anyone know a book that I can buy that will provide me with all the laws and regulations relating to Health and safety.
Thanks in advance

Sameena, I've always found Tolleys annual book most useful. Bit pricey but maybe work would buy it or you? Even getting hold of last year's points you in the right direction - just check there has been no change in the regulation.

You can get the majority direct from the HSE website and they do loads of PDFs and free loadloads and are always upto date
Problems with books is they go out of date pretty easy, and may not cover the current legalisation

Hello Sameena
I see you are a new forum user, so welcome! If you are new to health and safety as well, you can't go far wrong with the NEBOSH General Certificate text book: Introduction to Health and Safety at Work by Phil Hughes and Ed Ferrett.
It will give you a basic understanding of all the significant legislation. Then you can delve deeper into particular areas using the HSE website and other sources.

I need to ask you a couple of questions: Why do you need this information? Is as part of your Health and Safety training: you have simply been asked to list all of this legislation or is it because you need it as a starting point to actually develop a Health and Safety management system?
If it is the latter then just copy the list of legislation from the HSE website- see http://www.hse.gov.uk/legislation/enforced.htm.
If it is the latter you really need to think about what you are going to be doing. The HSE list includes 14 Acts of Parliament and 99 regulations (Statutory Instruments) many of which are very specific to certain industries. Furthermore many are of only administrative relevance (they tell the HSE how to enforce other pieces of legislation).
In addition there some pieces of legislation which are Health and Safety legislation but are purely civil in character and so are not included in the HSE list eg, Occupier Liability Acts (1957 and 1984), or the Employer’s Liability (Defective Equipment) Act 1969.
Finally things like Fire Safety are usually treated as Health and Safety matters but under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 are regulated by the Fire Authorities not the HSE (apart from certain exceptions)
