CSCS quotes CIOB qualifications as one of the qualification options for a Contracting Construction Site Supervisor to be able to apply for a Supervisor CSCS card, e.g. CIOB Certificate or Diploma in Site Supervisory Studies.  Does anyone know if the CIOB quals are any good as I have no experience of them?

As a H&S consultant, on a practical level I tend to recommend the SSSTS and SMSTS courses for on site Supervisors but these are not recognised for CSCS card purposes.  Doing something like the NEBOSH Construction Certificate seems to me like overkill for a specialist subcontractor.

I know that CHAS and equivalent schemes recognise SMSTS /SSSTS and the 5 day IOSH Managing Safety in Construction accreditation. I'm not sure about CIOB but it might be worth seeing if their syllabus compares with the aforementioned. If so, then I would deem it satisfactory.
