Anybody else totally unimpressed with the CHAS website? Compared to the likes of SAFEContractor or ACCLAIM it is totall user unfriendly and very difficult to navigate--what are the chances CHAS will get their act together and give it a serious overhaul---it doesn`t even look pleasing to the eye and looks like something cobbled together from Stalinist era Russia...

Some of their application forms seem cobbled together as well.
Poorly layed out - difficult to complete - lacking uniformity and the referencing system seems weird.

I think there needs to be a counter balance to this criticism. I have always found the CHAS website straightforward enough to navigate. My understanding is that CHAS is by far the largest (in terms of members and suppliers) nationally accredited health and safety assessment scheme. It is also currently the fastest growing scheme. So existing and new buyers/suppliers must be pretty satisfied with it.
Of course there there is always room for improving a website but I think you may be in danger of confusing style over substance.

I haven't used the CHAS website but have used safecontractor.
One of my construction clients gets me to update their safecontractor every year and then apply for CHAS on the basis they have safecontractor.
The safecontractor website is not easy for me to use so whenever I get stuck I make a phone call. They allow me to send documents by email instead of their web uploading which I find very tedious.
Maybe you could try calling CHAS and telling them you are struggling with their site.
1. This will alert them to the problem and,
2. They may be able to assist you over the phone.

I managed to get the CHAS and Constructionline accreditation for the company i work for and found both setups very difficult to initially undersatand. However both could do with an overhaul, especially the Chas Site.
