hi folks
A construction firm, has dissapeared out of their rented offices over the weekend. I now have a number of safety files looking for a home. To process these will take, time, money and trouble.
Ethics.
Do I just shred them to clear the building?
Store them and charge for the storage when someone wants them? There is quite a few, so it would need a small garage space to file them.
Employ someone to actively sort them and contact the Client/PC and see if they want them and charge for their return?
Can I charge?
thanks
Linda

This is odd, Safety files should be with the client or design team if project is not complete. Can you not contact someone from the company or look at the file for clients name or project and contact them directly?

The files may not be H&S Files but files containing H&S information.
If you know who the contractor is try googling them. I think general health and sfety documents only have to be saved for a few years.

I believe that the files would have been prepared for a client(s), they may be your best starting point.

Hi all
Thanks for your replies. I've pushed the liquidator to deal with the files. They will be removed, but the liquidator has no legal obligation to contact the client owner of the files to hand them back. They will be stored and then destroyed 18 month after the case has been closed.
Now I know!
